The Gas System Guidance System

The Gas System Guidance System (GS2) is an enterprise decision guidance system for vertically-integrated natural gas companies. GS2 helps executives and business managers make better financially-driven operational decisions that maximize profit margins while assuring the operational stability of system-wide assets.

Used in week-ahead, month-ahead, and annual financial analysis and strategic planning, GS2 simultaneously analyzes all elements of a vertically-integrated natural gas operation (supply, storage and transmission), operational and contractual constraints, and external factors (market prices, weather forecasts) to guide daily decision making. GS2 delivers this information clearly through a Command & Control-type user interface that allows users to view, analyze, report, and collaborate on every aspect of the natural gas network with distributed team members.

Financial Insight. Operational Foresight.

Power Is In Your Hands

GS2 identifies supply and demand alternatives, market price variances, and system asset availability as “what if” scenarios, enabling quick and easy analysis, recommendation and justification of financial and operational decisions. This empowers natural gas executives with a thorough understanding of the financial and operational performance of their physical and contractual assets, looking one week, one month or one year into the future.

GS2 provides decision makers with the analysis and justification needed to identify the optimal solution to daily questions:

  • How are we performing against our plan? What adjustments should we make?
  • Should I buy supply on the spot market, utilize existing supply contracts, or pull from storage?
  • What's our lowest cost option for transporting gas from pool A to pool B?
  • From which storage pool should I supply these customers?
  • What impact will compressor maintenance schedules have on supply and delivery?
  • And much more

Command & Control

At the heart of GS2's functionality is the collaborative Executive Command Center, a highly intuitive, visual interface built on the same underlying technology being used by the U.S. Army, the most advanced Command & Control software in use today. The Executive Command Center enables senior executives as well as other decision makers to collaboratively visualize, analyze and plan critical operational and financial activities, for an up-to-date view of the entire enterprise.
