Dr. Tuomas Sandholm

Dr. Sanholm, a renowned researcher in the fields of computer science and applied mathematics, leads the CombineNet research team in Pittsburgh, PA. He is an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. He is also a former associate professor of computer science at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in computer science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an M.S. with distinction in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.

Dr. David Levine

Dr. Levine leads CombineNet's research & development team. Dr. Levine was formerly the director of the Center for Distributed Object Computing (CDOC) at Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at Irvine, an M.S.E.E./C.S. from George Washington University, and a B.S.M.E. from Cornell University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer.

Dr. Jason Brown

As Vice President of Product Development, Dr. Brown is responsible for project engineering, product development and quality assurance. Dr. Brown received his BS in mathematics with a minor in statistics from University of California at Davis and his M.S. and Ph.D. in statistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Andrew Fuqua

Mr. Fuqua has lead responsibility for the design and development of the mathematical model programmed into GS2 using combinatorial optimization algorithms to solve the natural gas network problem. He also worked extensively with MIP formulations of other business models most notably procurement/reverse auction events. Mr. Fuqua earned a Master of Computer Science degree and a B.A. degree in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University.

Dr. Egon Balas

Dr. Balas is a world renowned authority on Operations Research and is a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Mathematics honoris causa by the University of Waterloo in 2005, the EURO Gold Medal in 2001, the John von Neumann Theory Prize of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences in 1995, and the Senior U.S. Scientist Award of the von Humboldt Foundation in 1980-1981.

Dr. George Nemhauser

Dr. Nemhauser has served the Operations Research Society of America (ORSA) as council member, president, and editor of Operations Research, and he is past chair of the Mathematical Programming Society. He is the founding editor of Operations Research Letters, and co-editor of Handbooks of Operations Research and Management Science. His honors and awards include membership in the National Academy of Engineering, the Kimball Medal, the Lanchester Price (twice awarded), and Morse lecturer of ORSA.

Dr. David Parkes

Dr. Parkes serves on the Program Committee of a number of leading conferences in artificial intelligence, multi-agent systems and electronic commerce. The author of a number of patents, he has published technical papers on electronic commerce, auction design, computational mechanism design, and bounded-rationality. He received the IBM Institute of Advanced Commerce award for best dissertation proposal in electronic commerce in 2000.
